New, Flexible AdvancedTCA Processor Blade Expands Motorola’s 10Gbps Embedded Computing Portfolio

Enables network equipment providers to deploy a mix of data plane and control plane applications using the same blade

TEMPE, Ariz. – 16 October 2007 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced a new 10Gbps AdvancedTCA® (ATCA®) processor blade designed to enable network equipment providers to implement a variety of data plane and control applications on a single blade. The Motorola ATCA-7301 features the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 running at 2.16 GHz, and supported by up to 16GB DDR2 memory, two AMC sites, and 10 Gbps Ethernet interfaces for high performance and high throughput.

The two hot-swappable AdvancedMC sites provide the flexibility for additional processing accelerators, on-board mass storage options, clocking, security processing or I/O capabilities. An optional rear transition module (RTM) provides further network and storage interfaces and a further on-board hard disk.

Designed for NEBS and ETSI compliance, Motorola’s ATCA-7301 targets a range of next-generation network deployments, including wireless broadband (3G LTE and WiMAX), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and IPTV. The blade is the ideal platform for application controllers, generic central system servers and high-availability system managers and RAID storage servers.

Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition (PNE-LE) operating systems is provided as standard, and the ATCA-7301 can be configured with a variety of software offerings from firmware-only to fully integrated and verified software operating environments.

The ATCA-7301 extends Motorola’s portfolio of 10Gbps AdvancedTCA products, which includes the Centellis 4000 series of fully integrated and validated communications servers and complementary payload blades, available pre-integrated into systems or as stand alone building blocks.
