Motorola Extends Tender Offer to Acquire Controlling Interest in Vertex Standard
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. 24 December 2007 -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that its subsidiary, MI, Inc., has extended the tender offer period in connection with its offer to acquire a controlling interest in Vertex Standard Co., Ltd. (JASDAQ: 6821) (“Vertex Standard”), a global provider of 2-way radio communication solutions
The tender offer period has been extended from December 26, 2007 to January 15, 2008. The extension was required because an amendment to the tender offer disclosure document has been filed announcing that all regulatory approvals required for the completion of the transaction have been granted. The tender offer must remain open at least 10 business days following such an amendment.
As previously announced on November 5, 2007, Motorola will form a joint venture with Tokogiken, a privately held Japanese company, controlled by Jun Hasegawa, current president and CEO of Vertex Standard. Upon successful completion of the tender offer and subsequent restructuring process, Motorola will own 80% of Vertex Standard and Tokogiken will retain 20%. The Board of Directors of Vertex Standard has expressed its support for the tender offer.
Vertex Standard is a leader within the Land Mobile Radio segment, where the company continues to demonstrate particular brand strength in high value, entry level solutions. The joint venture will develop and sell Vertex Standard branded products and develop select Motorola branded products.
The approximate number of shares of Vertex Standard Co., Ltd tendered to date is 1,230,000 shares, representing approximately 17% of the outstanding shares of Vertex Standard, which tendered shares do not include the shares owned and committed to be tendered by Tokogiken and Mr. Jun Hasegawa. There have been no stock acquisition rights tendered to date.

Claro Idéias Torpedo - O que é
1 - Cliente em roaming pode enviar e receber torpedos?
Sim. Exceto se você estiver fazendo Roaming Internacional TDMA.
2 - Quando o celular estiver desligado a mensagem é recebida?
Caso o celular esteja desligado, fora de área, ocupado ou sem bateria, a mensagem será entregue assim que o celular estiver ativo dentro do prazo máximo de 24h.
3 - Se enviar um torpedo para um celular que não pode receber, pago mesmo assim?
Sim. É cobrado o valor do Torpedo pois o envio é feito apesar da impossibilidade do cliente em recebê-lo.
4 - O celular avisa quando eu ultrapassar o limite de caracteres?
Se o seu celular permite o envio de até 160 caracteres ele irá parar de digitar assim que chegar ao limite de caracteres. Se você tiver um celular que permita o envio de mais de 160 caracteres, o celular irá indicar quantas mensagens você irá enviar e o total de caracteres restantes para cada mensagem. IMPORTANTE: Se você enviar uma mensagem com mais de 160 caracteres, você será tarifado pelo total de mensagens. Exemplo: se a mensagem tiver 200 caracteres, você pagará por 2 mensagens. Caso o destinatário não puder receber mensagens longas (mais de 160 caracteres) ele irá receber apenas a primeira ou duas mensagens separadas (dependendo do celular).
5 - Para quem posso enviar?
Para todos os clientes Claro e também para as operadoras que possuem acordos com a Claro. Veja na página do Torpedo.
6 - Como digito o número de destino?
Você pode digitar: DDD com o zero + número do celular. Por exemplo: 021 9XXXXXXX. Se você tiver um celular com tecnologia GSM pode digitar das seguintes maneiras: Código nacional + DDD + número do celular. Por exemplo: 55 21 9XXX XXXX. DDD sem o zero + número do celular. Por exemplo: 21 9XXX XXXX. Apenas o número do celular. Por exemplo: 9XXX XXXX. Sendo que a última opção será útil apenas para quando enviar para um número com mesmo DDD que o seu.
7 - Posso usar a agenda para enviar Torpedo?
Sim, desde que o número esteja cadastrado conforme as possibilidades de envio.
8 - Posso mudar o toque de recebimento de Torpedos?
Sim, cada celular possibilita que você utilize o toque que achar melhor. Em alguns casos, você pode deixar no silencioso apenas com vibração. Veja no Manual do seu celular como alterar.
9 - Torpedos com conteúdo não apropriado são censurados?
Não. A Claro não faz censura aos textos enviados pelos seus clientes. É importante ressaltar que cada cliente é responsável pelo conteúdo enviado.
10 - A operadora lê meus Torpedos?
Não. A Claro não lê seus Torpedos.

The Treo 755p offers VersaMail 3.5.45 with built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support for Microsoft Direct Push Technology that delivers email and calendar updates from a home or office PC using Outlook. Businesses connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server get fast, automatic wireless updates of email, calendar and contact information with added IT security and remote manageability.
Users also have the option of using Verizon Wireless' Wireless Sync for access to personal or corporate email, contacts, calendar, and tasks from their home or office PC. Customers can sync up to 10 POP3 or IMAP email accounts, including AOL, Yahoo! Premium and more with their Treo 755p. Wireless Sync supports Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Lotus Domino.
Customers using the Treo 755p have the benefit of Verizon Wireless' EV-DO high-speed network to send and receive data. For users interested in using their Treo 755p as a modem, the smartphone can take advantage of the 600 kbps to 1.4 mbps typical download speeds of the EV-DO network.
The Treo 755p comes with built-in 60 MB of user-available memory and can be enhanced by using the miniSD slot to add separately purchased memory cards of up to 4 GB for storing data, photos, music, and video.
With Google Maps installed right out of the box, customers can get directions; perform local searches; and view moveable/scalable maps, satellite imagery, and traffic updates while on-the-go. Customers can also map a contact's address directly from the contact listing simply by selecting the "maps" button.

Verizon Wireless today announced the online availability of the Palm Treo 755p smartphone. The device will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on Jan. 7.
Compared to its Treo 700p predecessor, the Treo 755p has a sleeker design with an internal antenna and a soft-touch feel. Featuring a large, high-resolution, color touch-screen for quick stylus access to applications, the Treo 755p offers a full QWERTY keyboard for easy email creation, web browsing and text messaging. It also includes features such as a 1.3-megapixel camera and built-in support for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents and PDF documents. Customers can view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files, and view PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files.
