[Review] THINKWARE Navigation 'I-NAVI G1'

[ Jason Lee 2007-08-14 ]

SEOUL, Korea (AVING) -- The most prominent features of Korean navigation market in 2007 are wide range of multi-tasking, change of resolution of LCD to 800 x 480 pixel and brighter screen. With this trend being more prevalent among navigation devices, G1 of I-NAVI is suitable for multimedia and navigation environment with AU1200 CPU chipset from RMI mounted. Especially it shows the different features of navigation with geomagnetic sensor. Let’s take a close look in the review.

Geomagnetic sensor?
G-Sensor(Geomagnetic sensor: 3 axis sensor detecting absolute direction of north pole and heading direction of automobile) and Gravity Sensor(3 axis sensor sensing motion by using vector of X, Y, Z) combined with I-NAVI map and map matching engine are more accurate and faster than the navigation products relying on GPS antenna. Therefore there’s neither a distortion of direction in underground passage, overpass, slowdown area and multi-pass area nor losing of GPS signals. This technology is the first to be realized by I-NAVI and this is very unique idea.

Review of GSM-handset Samsung SGH-C300

PlanetaCelular tecnologia e mobilidade

Review of GSM-handset Samsung SGH-C300

Handset
800 mAh Li-Ion battery
Charger
User guide
Samsung has always offered a great many models in order to suit tastes of nearly everyone, that’s why the advent of models slightly differing from each other is quite natural. Thus recently three nearly look-alike entry-level sliders have made it to the market: SGH-E250, SGH-X530 and SGH-С300. The strongest-looking device of this trio is the E250 with its slim casing and more austere design. As regards the X530 and the C300, they really look like twins. At that, the company, as always, is not rushing to explain the indexing – in spite of the striking similarity these slider-style phones possess totally different indexes.

The casing is practically a copycat of Samsung SGH-X530, even down to the built-in camera (the C300 has none), volume rocker (missing on the C300 as well) and the navigational key (unlike the X530 on the C300 it comes in rectangular form and is more comfortable in use, to my liking). Besides, the dimensions turn out to be a bit different as well – 87x45x19.6 mm at 78 g against 95x45x17.9 mm. The handset nice fits in palm, and readily slips in just about any pocket or purse. The only thing the most “spoilt” users can complain about is its thickness.

The phone comes in three color solutions: white, black and black-and-white.

The Samsung SGH-C300 casing, made of plastic with glossy coating, looks quite decent. The only thing that can spoil your experience of handling the device is small scratches showing up after a few days of usage. However they become visible only at the certain angle and good light conditions. The interior is finished in matte plastic that a bit differs in tone.

Review of GSM-handset Samsung X520

PlanetaCelular tecnologia e mobilidade

Review of GSM-handset Samsung X520

“The SGH-X520 is a combination of a very sophisticated design and irresistible trims…”, says Samsung’s Russian portal. And while we might not agree with the statement on the design, since even Samsung’s line-up proposes a handful of more eye-candy solutions, the color schemes that the X520 comes in, look like everything, but something ordinary.

The phone is available in five different trims: light-green, red, pink and violet. On the one hand, the trims offered by the X520 aren’t that groundbreaking, because we have see a lot of devices employing these colors to date. But it is Samsung X520 that looks quite out of the ordinary in these color schemes, thanks to the mix (for both the fascia and the rear) of glossy and matt plastic, which seems somewhat new.

The handset’s casing is made of quality plastic, with the matt part being grease-resistant, and the glossy – prone to fingerprints, yet this is not something that will bother your eyes too often. Measuring a mere 89x42x17.7 mm and weighting 78 grams, the X520 feels slightly bigger in hands than it actually is, as its edges are barely smoothened and the back cover is curved, which lends the phone somewhat plumpish feel. The build quality is not something we should complain bout – all details are well-adjusted to each other, nothing creaks or moves in the slots.

The left-hand side houses the volume rocker, which turns out to be quite handy, located exactly in the place where you finger rests during a call. Right there you will also find Infrared window, positioned more towards the bottom. The holes for a carrying strap are mounted on the hinge.

The right spine plays host to the 2,5 mm audio jack, covered by a plastic flap. Further down is the dedicated camera key, while the bottom rim, as always though, houses the interface socket protected by a plastic stub.

Review of GSM-handset Samsung X520

Review of GSM-handset Nokia 2626

PlanetaCelular tecnologia e mobilidade

Review of GSM-handset Nokia 2626

Sales package:

Handset
970 mAh Li-Ion battery
Charger
Headset (HS-7)
User Guide
Following extraordinary popularity of handsets with a music player inside, makers have started tacking music capabilities on even their entry-level offerings. Naturally, arming a 90-dollar worth device with an MP3-player is not an easy task – there should also be enough of memory bundled or support for memory expansion, though incorporating FM-receiver into a budget model can be done hands down.

This is exactly what Nokia has done, releasing the successor to the 2610 in the form of Nokia 2626, that is notable for presence of radio and revamped color schemes. Speaking of the latter improvement, there are four trims available: light blue, gold-blue, pink and white-pink. Subjectively speaking, only two of them posses visual appeal – more feminine white-pink and more masculine light blue, as for the two remaining schemes, they look lackluster.

Unsophisticated design of a rectangular casing looks neatly and boasts pretty much conventional dimensions: 104x43x18 mm, weighting 91 g. The handset feels nice when held in hands and readily slips in just about any pocket or purse, meaning that the 2626 will suit both men and women.

The casing of Nokia 2626 is composed of three different types of plastic and an inset made of tinted glass with mirror coating on the front. The phone looks quite spectacular, yet the build quality will our main gripe with it. At first, nothing delivered problems – all parts were finely adjusted, neither gap nor creaking noises were spotted. But shortly after that the panel edging the display and keypad loosened, producing unwanted noises.

The side plates have been set free of controls or sockets, except for a few things. The top and the right-hand sides house two loudspeakers, while at the bottom you will find charger slot, 2,5 mm audio jack and an odd-looking socket that turned out to be a service slot only for firmware updates in service centers
